FAQ

"As you start to walk on the way, the way appears." - Rumi

  • Phone and virtual sessions are provided at client’s request.
  • In-person sessions are provided with COVID-19 protocols in place. The office space is large, and seating is more than the 2 meter socially distanced requirement. For play therapy sessions, specific protocols are in place to ensure play spaces/materials are properly sanitized and mask requirements are followed.
You can click on my ‘Book Appointment’ button to see what days and times I have available; my contact page also has information on my office hours. Within 24 hours of booking your first session, you will receive additional emails that will provide you with online forms to review and fill out prior to your session; if you have questions about the forms, please do not sign and we can discuss them together. We will review these forms in greater detail as part of our initial session.
The first session takes between 60 to 75 minutes. We spend time going through important information about the counselling process, consent, your rights in counselling, my approach as well as what you can expect from me as your therapist. We explore the issues that have brought you to therapy, and I gather relevant information about your life as well as talk about the changes you want to make. It is my hope that after the first session, you may be able to evaluate whether you think my approach would be a good fit for you and the issues you want to address.
  • This is a fair and common question. You may already be inclined to think that this process is different for everyone. And you would be right. In the beginning of therapy, I usually recommend that clients come weekly, for at least the first 6-7 sessions. After that, we evaluate what progress is being made and whether we need to continue weekly sessions or if we may shift to bi-weekly sessions. Sometimes, we re-evaluate the approach being used and/or shift the goals, depending on what changes and progress is being observed, or not observed.
  • For children and adolescents, the schedule typically starts with a parent intake (with child or without child), 4 sessions with the child alone (or if theraplay is being used, parent and child attend together), and then a parent update (with or without child); sessions normally go weekly for the first 6 sessions and then re-evaluated at the parent update.
There is about a 2 week wait time for new clients. However, I welcome you to call or email me before you book or if you’re thinking about therapy, so you can get a sense whether or not I would be a good fit for you. You can go to my contact page for my number or email address or send a web inquiry if you prefer. I usually respond to requests within 24 hours.

Clients can book up to a 90 minute session and/or choose to come multiple times in one week.
